Jet Airways
Jet Airways South Africa
Jet Airways is an Indian airline that will be offering flights to Mumbai (bombay) from Johannesburg. The airline operates one of the newest fleets in the world, and has won awards for being a great airline, efficient and on time. It actually has over 400 flights per day on the airline, but for us South Africans, it will be a lot less than this. Jet Airways will be offering flights from Joburg to Mumbai, and hopefully in the future will be able to offer flights to Mumbai from Durban.

The flight time is between 15 to 27 hours (basically depending on the flight time to the countries and the stop-over period.
Durban to Delhi Flights
Without a doubt the flights to Delhi from Durban are the most popular – this is mainly due to the large Indian population in the Durban area. Unfortunately there are still no direct flights and the stop-overs will also be similar to those you would have for the JHB to Delhi route. However Jet Airways is apparently launching in April 2010 and should offer direct flights to Delhi.

Accra has actually become quite a popular destination for South Africans to visit. There are non-stop flights to Accra from Johannesburg (OR Tambo), but only from South African Airways (Fly SAA) and Air Namibia. The indirect flights are offered by many airlines. The cheapest flights will be from African Airlines, as the stop-over will be in another African country, whereas the European airlines will stop in Europe and then fly back into Africa (not really economical in price or time). The African airline options are Air Ghana, Kenya Airlines, Ethiopian airlines, Air Namibia and Egypt air. International airlines are Lufthansa, Virgin Atlantic and BMI. Travel time will vary, however direct flights are around 6hours and indirect are between 13 – 26 hours. Flights leave from OR Tambo airport and land at Kotoka International airport.

Johannesburg to Lagos Flights
There are a few options to fly to Lagos from Johannesburg. These include SAA, Arik Air, and Kenya Airways. Only Arik Air (which is the main airline in Nigeria) will fly direct and this flight will take around 6h20. Unfortunately this means that the likelihood of any of the budget airlines going there is very minimal, as they can only really fly non-stop of less than 4 hours. Indirect flights by Kenya Airways, South African Airways, Emirates and Ethiopian airlines can take anywhere from 10h – 22h, depending on where and how long the stop-over is.
Cape Town to Lagos Flights
As is the case with most flights into Africa, there are no direct flights from Cape Town. To get to Lagos from Cape Town you will first need to make a stop at Johannesburg (OR Tambo) and catch the next flight from there. The lack of direct flights could be as a result of the lack of demand, or perhaps the airport can not handle these international flights – although with its recent upgrade perhaps things have now changed.
Lagos Info
Lagos is reported to be the seconds fastest growing city in the Africa and is the second most populous in Africa. Like South Africa, Lagos has also implemented a BRT system to assist with transportation and alleviating congestion.
Lagos airports
The airport in Lagos is called the Murtala Muhammed International Airport(originally known as the Lagos International Airport). For quite some time the airport was a no-go-area due to robbings, muggings, solicitation of bribes by officials and criminals actually stopping planes from taking off by blocking the runway so they could rob its cargo. However, since 2000 things have improved drastically and the airport is generally considered much safer for travellers.
