Flights Bloemfontein
Bloemfontein Airport, an important gateway to the Free State Province, is one of the smaller airports in South Africa. Annually, the airport see’s only about 250 000 passengers travelling in and out, the majority of whom are business travelers. Because of its small size, only domestic airlines are serviced at the airport. Local flights arrive and depart fairly regularly, generally between 9am and 8pm, to and from South Africa’s other major cities, i.e.: Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Durban and George.

Bloemfontein tourist information
Bloemfontein is not only the capital of the Free State, but also holds the title of judicial capital of South Africa. The Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of South Africa is housed here and the building is truly beautiful to see. Many people visit the courtrooms to admire the stinkwood paneling and exquisite carvings. Another name that many use for Bloemfontein is the City of Roses. One way to experience this aspect of the city is to visit Kings Park – here you will be treated to over 4000 rose plants in the park. Another great outdoor venue is the local zoo. While many enjoy the large primate area, the main draw card for most is the fascinating liger…a cross between a tiger and a lion. Once a month, art and craft enthusiasts are treated to Die Volksblad, a local market to buy and display wares. Loch Logan Waterfront is another great place for shopping, as there are a number of shops and a flea market as well as a variety of restaurants. Travelling slightly northeast will bring you to Naval Hill, home to the Franklin Nature Reserve. There are beautiful views of the surrounding areas and you can also view giraffe and steenbok. The Botanical Gardens are also a wonderful outdoor attraction and the summer sunset concerts are a must-see. If concerts are your idea of a good outing, then the Sand du Plessis Theatre offers regular performances. The city also offers a number of museums.
